"Where learning comes alive"

2's Preschool Room

                     Polar Bears and Penguins

Your child will build skills and confidence through games, songs, movement and art, as FMPS teachers provide an outlet for creative expression. By encouraging child-directed play, we ensure that your child develops at his or her own pace. Sharing, cooperating and taking turns teaches your child the importance of being a team player.

Your child will grow into his or her own person, ready to tackle the next challenge—preschool! Our lesson plans provide development for your two year old by providing activities in the lesson plan that cover the following developmental areas:

                    Language and Communication

Children develop a rich vocabulary as they are exposed to a variety of books and literacy materials. Daily read-aloud, songs, word games and conversations enable your child to begin building a solid foundation in language and communication.

                 Social and Emotional Development

Children build a sense of community as they interact with each other through daily activities, such as games and songs. Our teachers work with your child to develop self-help skills and the ability to negotiate his or her environment independently.

                        Cognitive Development

Our program offers daily opportunities for children to count, recognize numbers and shapes, and experiment with volume and measurement. Inclusion in daily routines and imaginative playtime gives your child the opportunity to further develop skills in numbers and operation, mathematics, and measurement.

                            Creative Arts

Children will learn to express themselves as they are introduced to various artistic activities such as dancing, painting and pretend play. Your child will learn about cause-and-effect relationships and self-expression through the arts and music, and will begin to share his or her knowledge in new ways with other children.

                        Physical Development

Our classrooms and equipment are designed so that children can be safe. Our dance, exercise, and large playgrounds give children a lot of fun as they develop large motor skills.

A letter from the teacher of  Polar Bears & Penguins

We are writing this letter to welcome you to the new school year. We hope this information will help you with any questions about your two year-olds classroom experience.

Backpacks
Your child needs to have a backpack.  It should contain at least 3-4 changes of clothes that are season appreciate to include pants, shirts, sock and underwear if needed. Wet clothes will be sent home in a plastic bag. Please replace clothing soiled clothing so that your child always has 3-4 outfits on hand.
Cubbies and Folders
Each child will have a folder. These folders will be vital in our continuing efforts to keep you informed of your child’s progress and classroom changes. The folder will contain weekly lesson plans, daily reports, artwork, schoolwork, and is also used for parent communication with teacher and office. Monthly newsletters will be sent home to let you know our themes and upcoming events. Please remember to check cubbies and their folders daily
Check in and Out Daily
Parents please remember to check your child in and out everyday on the computer in the Bears and Chipmunks classroom. If you need assistance, I will be more that than glad to help you. At the end of each day, I will put the necessary paper work and art work in each Child's folder.

Personal belongings
Your child will need a small blanket (no bigger than a beach towel) and small pillow.  Both of these items and extra changes of clothes should be labeled with your child's name. At the end of each week your child’s blanket will be sent home to wash.  Please be sure to send the blanket back at the beginning of each week.

Potty Training
When your child shows signs they are ready I am pleased to partner with all of my parents to provide support in potty training. This is a very fun experience that teaches each child independence. I encourage parents to share with me how you reward their efforts at home, so that I may provide similar reinforcements at school.

Talk to Us!

We appreciate feedback from our families and want to address any concerns you may have right away. Please do not hesitate to talk to me if you have any questions. I hope to build a relationship with each family. I look forward to working with you and your family this coming school year. I am very excited about helping your child learn and grow.
