Dear Parents,
Welcome to the WONDERFUL WORL OF SPANISH LANGUAGE! First I would like to give you a brief description about my educational background so you will know who will be teaching your child the Spanish language. I am from Peru, South America. My teaching degree is from the University of Peru and I have been a teacher for almost 21 years. A present I conduct a program called "Connections that Count" at Steel Creek Public Library Branch. It is a bilingual story time for parents and children. In addition, I teach Spanish at other centers and schools. In 2008 I was selected to be an artist teacher of North Carolina Wolf Trap Institute. The institutes goal is to impact student learning through arts infusion and to work with teachers and parents to develop methods of making the arts a part of daily interactions with children. To keep up to date in my career and training, I attend regular workshops and seminars conducted by Master Teaching Artist from the Wolftrap Institute and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
As an artist teacher I use the arts as a tool to teach Spanish. I use drama, dance, music, puppetry, and storytelling to introduce the Spanish language creating a very motivating and fun environment. Your child will not only learn single words in Spanish, also he/she will be able to speak full sentences through a project called "I can read Spanish". Your child will be working on this project during the lessons. The children will learn the verbs naturally, just the way they learned to speak English.
Our themes for this session will be "Mi Ropa" (My Clothes) and "Mi Cuerpo" (My Body). The Children will learn "Knees and Toes" song in Spanish. Also I will use my Cajon ( a Peruvian musical instrument) to introduce rhyming words in Spanish. Please check in the box to see what concepts your child will learn this session.
If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to e-mail me at
raydakaramitroscv@yahoo.com or call me at (704) 583-2704. Ours Spanish lessons will be on Tuesdays and I very much look forward to working with your child.
Sincerely,
Rayda Karamitros (Spanish Teacher)
